Urological Surgeon

I graduated from Athens Kapodistrian University in 1990 and after my internship in Athens moved to Glasgow for higher surgical training.

My general surgical and subsequent urological training was based primarily in the West of Scotland but also involved a period of training in Edinburgh to acquire further technical training in the management of complex female urology and reconstruction. Prior taking up my consultant post at the Southern General and Victoria Infirmary Hospitals in 2006, I spent a brief period of specialised training in USA (Duke University, UC Davis and USC Norris) with main interest in complex female incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction and in urological management of spina bifida patients and bladder reconstruction.

I have been the lead clinician for the diagnosis and management of recurrent incontinence with the establishment of videourodynamics for the west of Scotland. I have been the lead clinician for the female incontinence MDT in urology and the sole urologist dealing with diagnosis and surgical treatment of the vaginal mesh complications (along with the lead urogynaecologist in the west of Scotland).

I have been the second named urologist at the national SNS service for the treatment of idiopathic female urinary retention (Fowler’s syndrome) and refractory detrusor overactivity.

Since June 2016 due to family reasons I moved to Edinburgh and I have been appointed as a consultant urologist at the Western General Hospital with special interest in complex female incontinence, urological problems in patients with neurological disease and bladder reconstruction.
